Photo Diary: Molly Payton's 2021 NZ Summer.

Returning home to New Zealand for Summer is an annual tradition for many local musicians who live overseas - and with 2020 being a year that most people want to forget about, London-based Molly Payton took flight to New Zealand in December, but with a two-week stint in quarantine first.

With her first headline tour of New Zealand set to kick off in a few weeks (starting at Auckland's Whammy Bar on February 18th - click here for more info on the tour), it'll be a chance to hear her perform songs from her two EP releases 'Porcupine' and 'Mess' live.

Ahead of the tour, Molly has put together a photo diary from her summer in New Zealand - check it out below:

The last studio session before I left London in December; I think I'd just been woken up from a nap.

Quarantining with my mum in Auckland. We both went a little insane but somehow managed to still like each other by the end of it - I’m guessing the massive Countdown order of drinks we did at the beginning probably helped a little (just kidding mum love u xx).

This was the first time I saw my two best mates after getting out! I had a wee cry and then we went down to the beach at the end of the street I grew up on for the evening :’)

This is me and my buddy Jack at his New Year's party about twenty minutes before I got bit by a white tail and had to go home. It felt like a bad omen but to be honest after the shitfire that was 2020 I really can't see how things could get any worse and I have decided I am going to have a Very Good Year. Jack located the spider a few days later and stood on it for me. Justice!

Once a week a group of us go on a day trip somewhere we haven’t been since we were kids - this is the one we did to Piha the other day.

Here is me dressed like everyone's dad in the 70s, having a drink out on the boat at Lake Rotoiti. I’ve been going there every summer since I was in the womb, it’s my favourite place in the world.

I took this at 4am after shooting a music video for the next thing I'm releasing. I won't say anything more about it except that it's probably going to break your hearts a little.
